Senior Data Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer / Newcastle / Hybrid / £90,000–£150,000 + Bonus A high-growth technology consultancy is expanding its new Defence Consulting practice and is looking for senior and principal-level engineers to help define the technical direction of its engineering capability. This is a rare opportunity to join at the very beginning of a new business, influence engineering strategy, mentor high-performing teams and deliver complex technology solutions across mission-critical Defence programmes. The Role You'll provide technical leadership across engineering teams while remaining hands-on, helping shape architecture, engineering standards and long-term technology strategy. Key responsibilities include: Leading the design of secure cloud and data platforms Defining engineering standards and best practice Providing technical leadership across delivery teams Mentoring and developing engineers Working closely with senior stakeholders on technical strategy Driving innovation across cloud, DevOps and data engineering Supporting large-scale transformation and greenfield programmes Helping grow and shape the Defence engineering practice What We're Looking For Extensive experience in Data Engineering, DevOps or Platform Engineering Strong cloud architecture expertise across AWS, Azure or GCP Experience designing enterprise-scale platforms Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical delivery Passion for solving highly complex technical challenges Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to build a new capability This is a unique opportunity for senior engineers and technical leaders who want to have genuine influence over a rapidly growing Defence practice while working on high-impact, cutting-edge technology programmes.
