Location: Peterborough (Onsite) Pay Rate: £38.49 per hour (£307.92 per day Inside IR335) Duration: 12-Month Contract - Highly likely to extend We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation in Peterborough on an initial 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering projects supporting the development of new products within a specialist Test Facilities Engineering team. Working on bespoke mechanical designs rather than production components, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support engine testing and development programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Design bespoke mechanical components, assemblies and test equipment. Support engine test facilities through the design of rigging systems, driveline components and mechanical equipment. Produce 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and engineering calculations. Take designs from concept through design reviews, customer feedback and into manufacture. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust engineering solutions. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes and future facility developments.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong mechanical engineering background. Previous experience using Creo and Teamcenter. Excellent understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Experience producing engineering calculations. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
Desirable Experience
Engine test facilities or development environments. Automotive, aerospace or heavy engineering industries. Knowledge of driveline systems and vibration analysis. Engine knowledge (beneficial but not essential).
