Position Overview The Sr. PostgreSQL DBA owns the TRDM database estate on AWS GovCloud — primary and alternate sites, plus TEST/DEV. Hands‑on responsibility for backup/recovery, replication, performance, security control evidence in eMASS, and the annual scheduled failover exercise.
Key Responsibilities
Administer PostgreSQL / Aurora across primary, alternate, and TEST/DEV environments
Monitor performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively
Apply quarterly database patches in accordance with DoD STIGs
Maintain backup and recovery procedures
Monitor replication between primary and alternate sites
Support annual scheduled failover exercise; produce Contingency Exercise Report
Maintain database security controls and produce eMASS evidence
Maintain database documentation (TTPs) in configuration management
Required Qualifications
Active SECRET clearance
US Citizen
Bachelor’s degree
PostgreSQL certification
DoD 8570 IAT-II (Security+ CE or equivalent)
8+ years database administration
3+ years PostgreSQL at production scale
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Certified Data Engineer
Aurora/RDS experience
DoD STIG database experience
Prior Oracle background (legacy familiarity helpful)
Work Environment / Location Scott AFB, IL (508 Scott Drive). On‑site primary; off‑site permitted for unclassified work where noted. SIPRNet work on‑site only.
