In this role, you will
Drive Technical Direction: Contribute to architectural decisions and strategic planning for the mobile platform, shaping our roadmap. Develop and Optimize: Build high‑quality, performant, user‑friendly mobile features with clean, maintainable code. Ensure Code Quality: Promote high standards through peer reviews, testing, and best practices. Build Reusable UI Components: Design polished, accessible, consistent UI components that enable faster development across teams. Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions. Support and Mentor: Share expertise, mentor junior engineers, and drive knowledge sharing. Champion Samsara’s cultural principles: Embody focus on customer success, long‑term building, growth mindset, inclusion, and teamwork as we scale globally.
Minimum requirements for the role
6+ years of software development, 3+ years of mobile app development with React Native in production. Deep knowledge of React Native, its architecture, native components, and limitations. Solid testing and debugging skills in a mobile context, including unit and integration tests. Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance, and platform APIs. Proficiency with GraphQL and Redux for data fetching and state management. Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with product, design, and backend teams. Experience mentoring less‑experienced engineers and leading technical projects from conception to delivery.
An ideal candidate also has
Native mobile development experience (Swift/Objective‑C, Kotlin/Java) and bridging React Native with native code. Track record of performance tuning using profiling tools and techniques. Hands‑on experience ensuring mobile app accessibility compliance. Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines, build tools, and test automation. Experience working with microservices. Long‑term ownership of shipping and maintaining features over several years. Domain experience in logistics, fleet management, or industrial IoT, especially for drivers or field workers.
Compensation Annual base salary: $221,000 — $260,000 USD. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions. Total Rewards Base salary, performance‑based bonus, and equity for eligible roles. Compensation is above‑market and designed to fuel high‑impact builders.
