ABOUT SAFE IRELAND Safe Ireland National Social Change Agency works to eradicate Domestic, Sexual, Gender Based Violence (DSGBV) in Ireland.We recognise that DSGBV is a widescale social problem that requires a nationwide county and community-based response at every level to ensure safe pathways out of abuse for women & children. We have four distinct functions: 1. Understanding domestic, sex, gender and sexuality-based coercion and violence (DSGBV) to advance government, commercial and civil society policy, practice and provision responses. 2. Providing and supporting frontline refuge, support and outreach services to SURVIVORS of DSGBV. 3. Supporting Safe Ireland member SERVICES. 4. Developing DV SECTORAL best practice for community-based DSGSBV responses. We achieve our work through collaborations with our network of affiliated independent frontline DV services, and with national stakeholders. There are thirty-seven DV affiliated as members of Safe Ireland. Each deliver local services including helplines, information/advocacy, crisis and move-on accommodation, Garda / Court accompaniment, Welfare advice, and practical/emotional/therapeutic supports for adults, young people and children. JOB PURPOSE We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated and experienced Court Accompaniment Worker to provide trauma-informed, practical, and emotional support to women survivors of domestic abuse who are attending court hearings in Cavan & Monaghan. The Court Accompaniment Worker will empower and support women throughout the legal process, ensuring they are informed, safe, and treated with dignity and respect this incudes risk assessing safety and looking at security options available. ABOUT THE ROLE Job Title: Court Accompaniment Worker Location: Based in our offices in Monaghan Town Job Type: Full Time : 35 hrs per week, Contract of Indefinite Duration Reports To: DV Services Manager: Safe Ireland Cavan/Monaghan Salary Scale: HSE Consolidated PayScale: Social Care Worker with qualifications, Point 1: 42,820.80 per annum Probationary Period: 6 months Drivers License Full, Clean Drivers License, access to a car and travel across Monaghan & Cavan are requirements of this role. Garda Vetting & References Satisfactory Garda Vetting and References are a requirement of this role KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To support women who have been subjected to domestic violence at a safe and suitable location, listen and provide emotional support around their experiences of domestic violence and to facilitate options for a future free from domestic violence To provided assistance with understanding the terminology, court and legal processes. To support women with completing and submitting applications to the Legal Aid Board To provide support and accompaniment in application for a protection, barring, safety, custody and/or maintenance order, judicial separation, or divorce. To provide criminal court hearing accompaniment for assault charges against a spouse/partner. Provide support with creating safety plans for women and their children following a court hearing. Provide post court support and information. To develop through engagement with the participants a support plan focusing on the individual needs providing practical and emotional support, including safety planning. To develop referral links for women with local support services and networks. To always observe and enforce a policy of strict confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the work. To always work according to organisational policies and best practice. Ability to offer non-judgmental, empathetic, and empowering support. To maintain and update accurate records of all files and any associated paperwork and CRM systems, including updating the database notes, in a timely and professional manner. To liaise / make appropriate referrals with other agencies while assisting, advocating and supporting clients with their associated support plans. Refer to Safe Irelands Domestic Violence Support & Outreach Service and Childrens Support Service for additional supports when required. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES To attend and participate fully in all team planning, meetings, training, supervision as part of your professional development provided by the organisation To work according to Children First guidelines and Safe Irelands Child Protection, Safeguarding and Welfare policy. To always represent the work and ethos of the organisation in a professional and respectful manner. Tomaintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and colleagues To promote the philosophy of empowerment, self- help, and mutual aid Ensure standards are maintained and adhered to in line with policy, procedures, and legislation. Representing the organisation in various settings as required The successful candidate is expected to be flexible in this role and carry out other duties that may be assigned from time to time. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE Applicants will be assessed against the following requirements and are encouraged to use their applications to provide examples of how they meet these criteria. A relevant 3rd level qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (Min level 7) in Social Care, Social Work, Youth & Community or relevant discipline A qualification or training in working with domestic violence would be an distinct advantage A minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in a social care setting, residential or emergency accommodation or related context with women/ families/children Theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of domestic violence Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and issues affecting women and children experiencing domestic violence Understanding and working knowledge of Domestic Violence Act/Childrens First Legislation/Child Care Act Knowledge of the legal system, particularly around family and criminal court proceedings. Knowledge around Risk assessment/Safety and Care planning is essential Proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, Adobe, CRM Systems Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and to take initiative Ability to effectively deal with a wide range of information sources, investigating all relevant issues. Capable of expression in a clear and articulate manner, both verbal and written. Ability to modify communication approach to suit the needs of the audience. The ability to work as a team player within a dynamic and continuously changing work environment. WHAT WE OFFER YOU: Pension: 7% employers contribution through our Pension Scheme (7% of annual basic salary) once probation is passed. Annual leave/Public Holidays: Entitled to 25 working days annual leave pro rata per annum; this is exclusive of public holidays. Paid Sick leave: Available once 6-month probation is passed.
