Train and onboard new phlebotomists across laboratory services, physician offices, and clinical departments Develop and manage individualized training schedules and structured onboarding plans Coordinate hands-on training in outpatient settings, inpatient units, and the Emergency Department Partner with laboratory leadership and the LIS Manager to support training in laboratory systems, blood bank, and department rotations Develop and maintain training manuals, syllabi, and competency checklists aligned with current protocols Competency & Performance Monitoring
Monitor trainee progress and provide ongoing coaching and feedback Conduct weekly check-ins with trainers and trainees to support development Maintain competency documentation and ensure all training requirements are completed Identify performance gaps, coordinate retraining, and assess readiness for independent work and role progression Evaluate professional conduct and adherence to laboratory standards Communication & Collaboration
Communicate trainee progress, performance concerns, and training outcomes to the Client Service Manager Collaborate with laboratory supervisors to ensure consistent training practices and protocol compliance Lead Q&A sessions and provide guidance to resolve training or workflow challenges Training Program Management
Coordinate training for new phlebotomy products, procedures, and system updates Develop and publish training schedules for internal staff and external locations Maintain accurate training records, sign-off documentation, and employee training files Support development of future trainers within the team Operations & Workflow Support
Assist with daily phlebotomy operations, staffing coordination, and workflow prioritization Help organize coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department needs Identify service or workflow issues and collaborate on staffing or process adjustments Provide input for staff performance evaluations Partner with leadership to identify and implement process improvements related to patient care and service delivery Professional Development & Compliance
Stay current with best practices in laboratory medicine and phlebotomy Maintain proficiency in laboratory systems and computer applications Participate in department meetings, trainings, and continuing education Review and adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and compliance standards Minimum Qualifications Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred Experience
Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required Previous training, teaching, or precepting experience preferred Licensure/Certification
Phlebotomy certification preferred Key Skills & Competencies
