Position: Assistant General Manager, Carbon Performance
Company Overview:
Carbon Performance is a 34,000 sq ft fitness club offering top-tier strength equipment, personal training, group fitness classes, bootcamp programming, youth performance training, and a full café/smoothie bar experience.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant General Manager to support the overall operations and success of the club. The AGM plays a critical leadership role in executing daily operations, driving sales performance, supporting staff development, and ensuring an exceptional member experience.
This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads from the front, and is passionate about fitness, customer service, and team development. The AGM works closely with the General Manager to hit revenue targets, improve retention, and maintain operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Support the General Manager in leading, coaching, and developing all team members, including front desk, trainers, smoothie bar staff, and maintenance. Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees. Hold team members accountable to performance standards, policies, and culture expectations. Help manage staff schedules and labor to align with business needs. Lead by example on the floor—set the tone for energy, urgency, and professionalism. Conduct regular check-ins with staff and assist in performance evaluations. Sales & Revenue Execution
Drive membership sales through effective lead follow-up, tours, and closing. Ensure all sales systems and processes are executed consistently (leads, appointments, tours, enrollments). Support the GM in hitting monthly sales and revenue goals. Monitor daily/weekly KPIs (leads, tours, conversion %, revenue) and adjust efforts accordingly. Assist in executing promotions, marketing initiatives, and outreach efforts. Member Experience & Retention
Ensure a high level of customer service at all times by maintaining a welcoming, high-energy environment. Build relationships with members to increase retention and engagement. Address member concerns, feedback, and escalations quickly and professionally. Support onboarding processes to ensure new members have a strong first experience. Promote additional services including personal training, classes, and retail. Operations & Facility Management
Oversee daily club operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and organization. Ensure the facility meets Carbon Performance standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation. Assist in coordinating maintenance, repairs, and equipment upkeep. Monitor inventory levels (retail, café, supplies) and communicate needs to the GM. Ensure all opening/closing procedures and operational checklists are followed. Administrative & Financial Support
Assist the GM in managing labor hours, payroll accuracy, and staffing efficiency. Track and report on key performance metrics to support business decisions. Support execution of monthly reporting and operational reviews. Ensure all systems (CRM, billing, scheduling) are used accurately and consistently. Community & Brand Presence
Represent Carbon Performance within the local community through events and partnerships. Assist in executing local marketing efforts and outreach initiatives. Participate in internal and external events to drive brand awareness and membership growth. Key Attributes for Success:
