As a Data Engineer / Data Modeler, you will play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining robust data architectures that enable large‑scale analytics and support mission‑critical government programs. You will collaborate closely with technical teams, security experts, and stakeholders to ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with federal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Designing and maintaining scalable database architectures for analytical workloads, ensuring optimal performance through indexing, partitioning, caching, and query tuning.
Developing, automating, and maintaining data ingestion, transformation, validation, and loading pipelines to support high‑quality data flows.
Building reusable data connection modules and backend infrastructure components to streamline data operations and support future scalability.
Supporting data preprocessing, normalization, and rigorous data quality validation processes.
Contributing to cloud migration planning, governance, and evaluation of cloud solutions for security, compliance, interoperability, and performance.
Producing comprehensive data models, architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Utilizing PowerShell scripting and automation to enhance data engineering workflows and system integration.
Collaborating with technical, security, and stakeholder teams throughout the project lifecycle to deliver high‑impact data solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or data architecture
Proven experience designing and optimizing scalable database architectures for analytical workloads, including query performance tuning (indexing, partitioning, caching)
Hands‑on experience building and maintaining automated data ingestion, transformation, validation, and loading pipelines
Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases
Proficiency in Python or R for data transformation, automation, or pipeline development
Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) for cloud‑hosted data solutions
Knowledge of FedRAMP requirements and cloud security best practices
Proficiency using Git with documented development practices
Experience designing data models for analytics (e.g., dimensional star/snowflake and/or normalized relational models)
Experience collaborating with government program stakeholders and security/privacy personnel, and presenting technical deliverables to diverse audiences
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier 4 (High‑Risk) Public Trust and HSPD‑12/PIV credentialing
Ability to travel approximately 10% as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory and at least two of the following: Azure SQL, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Functions
Active Public Trust clearance
