Position Summary Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team in collaboration with the Clinical Dietitian to provide nutrition care to residents. Primary Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Maintains friendly, efficient, attitude towards customers, co-workers, and clients. Interfaces with residents/patients to obtain diet and nutrition information to determine nutritional risk. Interviews and screens new/existing residents/patient for diet history, food and meal preferences, menu satisfaction, meal acceptance and dining related needs. Participates in meal rounds and oversees food production and service operations as assigned. Collaborates and communicates with Nutritional Services staff and leadership. Performs diet office clerical duties, including copying and filing. Assists with clinical data collections and quality improvement processes. Follows established guidelines and uses appropriate communication procedures for any necessary intervention to ensure optimal nutritional status is achieved. Guides individuals and families in food selection, preparation and menu planning based upon nutritional needs. Supports kitchen operations in the following areas: caterings, special events, and projects. Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations as well as other local, state, and federal regulations. Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the resident/patient population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population. Maintains compliance with standards of operation, as well as maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with government and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes. Maintains compliance with all requirements of Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two years of responsible experience as a diet clerk. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Must demonstrate excellent skills in reading writing, speaking and understanding the English language. Other languages a plus. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
