Thank you for your interest in our Speech Language Associate positionJob Summary: The Speech Language Associate is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, SLP Lead, and SLP Coordinator, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students. JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Speech Language Associate (SLA) Salary Schedule: Certified Salary ScheduleDepartment: Exceptional Students Educational Program Job Code: Reports To: Principal, SLP Lead, SLP Coordinator Work Schedule: 190 Days/8 hours per day Grade/Level: NAFLSA: Exempt: No Primary Function: Provide related educational support or direct intervention for all students with instructional needs in the areas of communication disorders under the direction of a certified Speech and Language Pathologist. Working Conditions:Physical Demands: Classroom environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone Seeing to read a variety of materials Sitting for extended periods of time Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Communication Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology from a GaPSC accepted accredited institution OR Completion of a state approved certification preparation program in Speech Language Associate at the bachelor level or higher. Pass the GACE content assessment, as required for certification in the field. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:
1. Conducts speech/language therapy sessions according to schedule 2. Notifies staff in a timely manner of any changes to schedule 3. Reports and maintains student attendance and data to assess progress 4. Complies with Federal, State and System regulations regarding due process 5. Refers to other agencies and/or personnel when appropriate 6. Investigates and uses new strategies for delivering student services 7. Participates in professional learning opportunities provided 8. Attends scheduled departmental meetings 9. Participates with school administrators/coordinators for effective planning, coordination, and implementation of speech-language program into total educational system 10. Participates in RTI process at local school level 11. Reports information required for local, state, and federal programs 12. Maintains confidentiality of student and student records
13. Adheres to legal statutes, organizational rules, and community standards 14. Maintains successful working relationships with co-workers 15. Functions as a team worker 16. Manifests emotional stability and maturity in all phases of job performance 17. Gets along positively with staff, supervisors, and visitors 18. Treats confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion and avoids gossip 19. Meets obligations with punctuality and maintains regular attendance 20. Works without constant direction 21. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing 22. Seeks to improve skills and knowledge 23. Uses time efficiently 24. Maintains effective physical setting for optimum job performance 25. Presents a professional image when representing Paulding County Schools through word, action and dress 26. Proven ability to utilize appropriate procedures for student's safety and welfare 27. Provides therapy per IEPs under the directions of the SLP 28. Reviews plans and schedules with the SLP on a regular basis 29. Manages the learning environment 30. Proven ability to utilize appropriate procedures for student's safety and welfare 31.
