Audiologist Position The mission of the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is to ensure that all students are equipped with the competencies they need to thrive in the 21st century. OCDE is a public education organization offering support services to 28 school districts and more than 600 schools and 20,000 educators serving over 450,000 students in Orange County. Our vision is that Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success. We play a supportive role in the fulfillment of this vision in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development and in partnership with families, businesses, and community organizations. The goal of the Orange County Department of Education's Connections program is to deliver a meaningful educational experience tailored to meet each student's individual needs. This mission focuses on teaching skills aligned with California State Standards, emphasizing competencies that are essential for students' current and future success. Connections empowers every learner with 48 classes spread across 13 school sites throughout Orange County, serving students referred by their district of residence. The program is structured to meet the needs of students with a range of support requirements. Our Connections programs maintain a low student-to-staff ratio within structured classroom environments, ensuring access to state standards through curriculum that meets each student's unique needs. We also focus on addressing emotional and behavioral development, while offering additional opportunities for career technical education (CTE), community-based instruction, and vocational training. We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as an Audiologist within OCDE's Connections Division. This role supports students with hearing loss to ensure full access to their educational environment. The Audiologist conducts hearing screenings, manages classroom amplification systems, assesses classroom acoustics, and provides auditory therapy and consultation to staff and parents. Requirements / Qualifications Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
One or more years of experience as an audiologist providing audiological services, auditory therapy, and consultation to staff and parents. Working in the public school setting and working with children with cochlear implants is desirable. Master's or higher degree in audiology or a closely related subject from a regionally accredited college or university.
Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: Possession and maintenance of a valid California credential with a specialization in clinical or rehabilitative services in audiology, OR Audiology License issued by the California Speech–Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board and intent to apply for the Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Audiology.
