The Premier Veterinary Group in Chicago, IL is hiring a full- time Specialty Veterinary Assistant to support our outstanding Surgery and Neurology teams! Schedule and Compensation:
Four 9 hour weekday shifts
No weekends!
$19-21/hr, dependent on experience

We have a Veterinary Social Worker on staff for employees and clients as needed. Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
Perform basic animal restraint and provide basic animal husbandry
Possess a working knowledge of hygiene between patients
Knowledge of basic record keeping procedures
Trim nails and remove sutures and staples
Recognize the need for help and contact the appropriate staff member
Properly use the 24-hour treatment sheet and treatment board by observing, monitoring and documenting patients for safety, health and behavioral problems
Ensure proper stocking of medical supplies and janitorial needs
Demonstrates an ability and awareness to keep hospital areas clean and neat, maintain a safe and clean work environment including but not limited to the cleanliness of laundry, floors and cages
Assisting doctors during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and education.
Performing sterile scrub and assist doctors throughout surgical procedures. - understanding sterile technique and prep, maintaining sterile techniques, pack and prep
Required to maintain client and patient confidentiality
Meet or exceed performance standards for work quality and productivity
Meet or exceed expectations for attendance and punctuality
About You:
Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a must.
Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring is required.
The ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and a commitment to developing long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community is required.
Maintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in stressful situations.
Veterinary experience is a plus but we will train the right person!
