Environmental Campaign Assistant Director – Fund for the Public Interest We’re hiring and training Canvass Directors to build public support for environmental issues. This role involves educating the public, building support, raising funds, and managing a field team. Responsibilities
Educate and engage the public on campaigns like protecting wildlife and the outdoors, moving beyond single‑use plastics, and stopping electronic waste. Build support and fundraise for leading non‑profit groups working on these issues, such as Environment America and PIRG. Hire, train, and manage your own team. Work at the most effective citizen outreach operation in the country. Qualifications
Leadership experience. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and meet staffing, campaign, and fieldwork goals. Training
We offer hands‑on training in an existing canvass office, classroom‑style training on social change concepts, and advanced training on staff management, canvassing, and campaign strategy. Locations
Canvass Directors work on campaigns across the country – currently in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and California. Geographical flexibility is required. Pay and Benefits
Annual compensation target: $38,250 – $53,750, depending on position and location. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick time, vacation time, commuter benefits, 401(k) with employer match, parental leave, long‑term disability, student loan assistance, and opportunities for advancement.
