Location: Aurora, IL 60504 - Chicago suburbs, ~45 minutes from downtown Chicago
Assignment Length: 6 months (July 2026 - January 2027)
Job Type: Locum tenens / temporary orthopedic surgeon - Sports Medicine
Shifts: 2 clinic days (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with 1-hour lunch), 2 OR days (7:30 AM start; flexible scheduling possible)
Call Requirements: 1 in 7 weekends (Fri 5:00 PM - Mon 7:00 AM); shared weeknight call with 6 other surgeons
Estimated Weekly Pay: $8,750 - $9,370
Patient Volume: 25-30 patients/day in clinic; 8-10 surgeries/week
Facility: Level II Trauma Center
EMR: Epic
Qualifications / Job Requirements Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Sports Medicine fellowship training required
Demonstrated experience with multi-ligament procedures and hip arthroscopy
Active Illinois medical license or eligibility for IMLC licensure (Illinois licensure preferred)
DEA certification required
At least 1 year of post-training experience in orthopedic surgery; trauma or sports medicine experience preferred
Responsibilities Provide comprehensive orthopedic care in clinic and operating room settings
Perform sports medicine procedures including ACL, MCL, PCL repairs, meniscal work, and hip arthroscopy
Manage a high-volume clinic (25-30 patients/day) and approximately 8-10 surgeries/week
Participate in rotating call coverage (weekends and weeknights) as scheduled
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including orthopedic surgeons and advanced practice providers
Document care and communicate with patients using Epic EMR
Ensure timely rounds, follow-up care, and adherence to facility bylaws
