Theater Facilities & Operations Manager

The Theater Facilities & Operations Manager is responsible for the daily management, maintenance, scheduling, and operational readiness of all departmental classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and production facilities, including audio-visual, lighting, and IT equipment. This role ensures that spaces are clean, safe, fully functional, and optimally utilized to support faculty, students, production staff, and rental users. This role serves as the Building Coordinator and works with Management on building improvements, maintenance and Capital Projects.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of specialized theatrical equipment including lighting, projection, electrical, rigging and other standard theater system.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of basic audio visual equipment (projectors, televisions, video, DVD players, speakers, microphones, HDMI, VGA, DVI USB Type A and B, S-Video or Y/C, Component, Composite Cables) as well as the difference between the same piece of equipment by a different manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of professional theatrical practice in facility, stage, and production management, as needed to perform key duties.
  • Skill in interacting effectively with faculty, TAs, staff and students, rental clients, and other departments in a high volume public contact setting using positive body language, direct eye contact, active listening, and problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction on tasks requiring knowledge of theatrical instruction and production processes.
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
  • Proficiency with personal computer and software in a Windows environment. Ability to learn new programs quickly and thoroughly, including basic startup and troubleshooting procedures for theater-specific systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate classroom and rehearsal scheduling effectively.
  • Ability to read, understand, and speak English sufficient to determine and carry out job duties.
  • Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push, and crouch for extended periods of time as required to complete job duties.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds such as tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, mats, raisers, ballet bars, occasional need to carry items weighing up to 100 pounds for a short distance.
  • Ability to work on weekends, flexible shifts and overtime with prior notice.
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
