Nextera Robotics is a fast-growing Industrial Robotics and AI company founded at MIT. We develop and deploy fleets of purpose-built autonomous mobile robots for Fortune 500 clients. We are building a future where AI-native robots handle repetitive and physically demanding tasks. We move fast with small, agile teams. Autonomy is expected. You’ll see your integrated robots go from bench to real-world deployment. Role Own the full integration that makes our mobile robots work reliably in the real world. Source commercial platforms, then integrate custom compute, LiDAR/vision sensors/IMUs, power distribution, communication buses, and our autonomous stack. You will design, assemble, test, and validate under real physical constraints - turning prototypes into production-ready fleet robots. Work hand-in-hand with our world-class Boston software team to ship robots that actually perform on warehouse floors, production sites, and outdoor environments. Required 3+ years hands-on experience integrating hardware and software for mobile robots or autonomous systems Strong mechatronics mindset - proven ability bridging mechanical, electrical, and software layers (sensors, compute, buses, real-time interfaces) Deep comfort with real-world robot validation: sensor fusion, physical constraint testing, fault isolation, and repeatable deployment Excellent communication and ownership — you thrive turning messy integration challenges into reliable systems Preferred Experience scaling robots from prototype to fleet deployment Background with industrial connectivity (5G, mesh networks, PLCs, motor control) or radio systems Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, LiDAR/vision pipelines, C++/Python integration, or computational geometry/motion planning M.S. or equivalent in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Working at Nextera is a great opportunity for those who love to get things done. The work is challenging, deeply technical, and incredibly rewarding — you’ll watch the robots you integrated drive out the door and perform for customers. We’ll be very excited to learn more about you and welcome you to the Nextera Robotics team! Competitive salary based on experience, plus great perks. Join a YC-backed startup shaping the future of robotics!
