SUMMARY: We are seeking aCasual Occupational Therapist IIto join our Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation team at our downtown Clinic and Specialty Center location. This position offers a flexible schedule with preferred availability of at least two shifts per week (5 to 8 hour shifts), with schedules established two or more months in advance. There may also be opportunities for additional hours based on department needs and candidate availability. In this role, you will primarily work with patients with neurologic conditions including traumatic/acquired brain injury (TBI/ABI), stroke, POTS, and other complex diagnoses. Treatment focuses on promoting safety, cognitive function, independence, and participation in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). This position also offers opportunities to expand into specialty areas such as driving rehabilitation, complex DME/power mobility evaluations, and neuro-vision rehabilitation. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about helping patients maximize independence and quality of life through evidence-based neurorehabilitation care. *Purpose of this position:*In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs and documents comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety Observes, evaluates and documents patient’s progress Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences Educates patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatments Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards Functions as a clinical instructor for occupational therapy students Directs and supervises activities performed by the OT aides consistent with their training and skill (patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties, and departmental maintenance) Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment Develops and conducts occupational therapy in-services for other staff Orients and mentors newly assigned staff Serves as a clinical resource for other staff Participates in program development Represents the occupational therapy department on committees and provides consultation to other departments and agencies as assigned Assumes responsibilities of the supervisor as assigned during the supervisor’s absence Provides work direction for clerical staff Assists in monitoring the quality of occupational therapy activities and services Functions as a resource for departmental policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS: /Minimum Qualifications:/
Graduate from an ACOTE® accredited OT educational program Minimum of 2 fulltime years of experience (4,160 hours) Certified or eligible for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, Registered. As a condition of employment, employees hired on an "or eligible" status must take and pass the first available examination (within three consecutive administrations of the exam) within the 12-month period following his/her date of hire Proof of Minnesota Board of Occupational Therapy Practitioner License or temporary license

Previous clinical experience/rehabilitation experience CPR certification
/Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:/
Knowledge of policies/procedures and practice standards; occupational therapy theory, techniques, and treatment, physical therapy and orthopedic equipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniques Ability to perform professional occupational therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate occupational therapy equipment Ability to provide work direction for ancillary personnel Ability to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progress Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team Ability to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from his/her own Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notes Ability to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate)
