Incumbents are responsible for planning and performing physical therapy for neurologically and physically impaired clients at California Children's Services Medical Therapy Unit sites, which are located in local public schools. Incumbents are primarily responsible for providing rehabilitative therapy to clients who are physical or neurologically disabled by illness, injury, or genetic impairment. Incumbents may assist clients by developing or improving physical skills; restoring muscle function; maintaining maximum performance within the client's capabilities; and improving the level of self-care and productivity. Minimum Qualifications Physical Therapist I License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California. Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent. Physical Therapist II Experience: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist. License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California. Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent. Physical Therapist III Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist. License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California. SELECTION PROCESS: Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Should a recruitment be open on a continuous basis, eligibles shall be certified in the order they are received not to exceed the maximum certification the department is entitled to.

The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months, and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions.
Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved.
