*Job Summary:*
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Manufacturing Machining Engineering Technician to join our team. The Manufacturing Machining Engineering Technician is responsible for providing technical support for day-to-day manufacturing issues, driving waste reduction initiatives, and facilitating new product launches in our CNC machining facility. This role involves optimizing CNC programs, troubleshooting machinery, and ensuring high-quality, efficient production workflows.
*Responsibilities*
* Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
* Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
* Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
* Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
* Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
* Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
* Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
* Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
* Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
* Ability to read and interpret CMM data and prints.
* Programs CNC machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
* Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
* Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
* Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
* Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
* Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
* Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
* Other duties may be assigned.
*Academic Requirements *
* High School Diploma or equivalency (HSED or GED).
*Required Skills & Experience *
* 1 to 3 years of experience in high volume precision machining environment
* Experience with making tool path offsets. General understanding of manufacturing processes and thorough knowledge of lathe tooling/programming
* Recognize tool paths by interpreting the program (G and M codes)
* Machine set-ups and change-overs
* Ability to train associates on machining standards
* Troubleshoot daily production problems through root cause analysis techniques as they occur
* Develop machining processes for new products
* Coordinate engineering changes
* Participate in continuous improvement processes
* Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards
* Adhere to Corporate policies and procedures.
* Ability to work side by side with outside vendors in an effort to reduce production and tooling costs.
* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
