Location: Remote or Alexandria, Virginia (HQ) Date Prepared: June 2026 FLSA: Exempt Division: Technology Department: Software Engineering Travel Requirement: Less than 10% to fulfill job requirements. Hours and Schedule: Generally, Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (minimum 37.5 hours within five (5) days per week); unless otherwise required or approved by management. Reports To: This position reports to the Supervising Data Scientist. Supervision Exercised: None Responsibility for Public Contact: Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment. Licensing and Certification: None General Description: The Data Analyst (DA) is responsible for providing ad hoc and planned analysis to support management, operations, and technology within NCMEC. The DA will ensure accuracy and consistency of analysis and reports through interactions with engineers, stakeholders, managers, and third parties external to NCMEC. This role will also assist in the maintenance of reports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Writes complex queries for reporting, creating datasets, and visualization. Builds and demoes self-service dashboard in Tableau and Palantir Foundry, quickly and efficiently integrating feedback into dashboards. Works with project managers and stakeholders to define and detail requirements which are leveraged to build dashboard and reports. Coordinates with stakeholders on quarterly reporting needs for divisions across NCMEC. Provides database querying and data visualization guidance and best practices to non-technical users. Maintains knowledge of reporting needs and databases, while documenting tech debt, dependencies, etc. Prepares ad-hoc solutions when necessary to satisfy data needs in support of software development. Promote and exhibit loyalty to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the cause of protecting children worldwide while maintaining a professional image. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in data analysis and visualization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated proficiency and comfort with SQL or other querying languages. Interest in learning and/or proficiency in other data manipulation and coding languages such as Python (Pandas, Pyspark, etc.) or R. Advanced data visualization tool knowledge including calculated fields, connecting to and cleaning data. Advanced Excel including data cleaning formulas including index/match, nested if statements, and pivot tables. Experience developing and implementing data structures/architectures using multiple data sets (structured/unstructured). Strong communicator of requirements and solutions with stakeholders. Demonstrated proficiency with software needed to succeed in DA role, including MS Office, JIRA, Tableau, and other visualization tools. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to learn new technologies and frameworks while keeping up to date with technology developments relevant to NCMEC. Adaptability, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team or in an individual capacity.
