About The Role

The Business Development Representative plays a key role in expanding Orion180's agency network by identifying, qualifying, and developing relationships with independent insurance agencies within an assigned territory. This professional will work independently to drive new agency partnerships, nurture emerging agency relationships, and support the growth of contracted agents through strategic outreach, consultative product education, and relationship development and management. Serving as the first point of contact for prospective agencies, the BDR is instrumental in building Orion180's market presence and pipeline development.

  • Identify and qualify new agency partnerships
  • Develop and nurture agency relationships
  • Devise and execute territory development strategies
  • Develop and manage sales pipeline and lead generation
  • Design and implement product training and education
  • Territory travel and agency engagement
  • Promote cross-functionally
  • Manage CRM and activity tracking
  • Research and monitor market conditions
  • Continually assess and analyze performance metrics
What We're Looking For

Experience & Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, 1-3 years of experience in P&C insurance, mortgage industry sales, or B2B business development preferred, Active P&C license (440 or 220) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

Professional Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present professionally and build credibility with agency decision-makers, Strong consultative sales approach with the ability to qualify prospects, identify needs, and position solutions effectively, Self-directed work style with the ability to manage territory responsibilities on own, exercise independent judgment, and prioritize competing demands, Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel reporting capabilities, Willingness and ability to travel quarterly within assigned territory for agency visits and relationship development

Personal Attributes: Results-oriented and goal-driven, with a track record of demonstrated initiative, and ability to be proactive and self-manage in meeting or exceeding performance targets, Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence agency stakeholders, Professional demeanor with a customer-focused mindset and collaborative team approach, Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
