Job Opening: Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) / School Health AideLocation: Founders Classical Academy of Leander Job Type: Full-time Reports To: School Nurse Position Summary Founders Classical Academy of Leander is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) to support our school health services. Often referred to as a Health Aide, Clinic Aide, or Special Education Aide, the UAP plays a vital role in carrying out limited, daily health-related tasks. Under the delegation and supervision of the School Nurse (RN) or district medical advisor, the UAP ensures our students receive basic care, medication administration, and a safe, welcoming clinic environment. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDirect Student Care & Emergency Response
Provide basic first aid and care for minor injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions in accordance with district policy and protocols. Administer student medications under the assignment of the school administrator or delegation of the RN, strictly following district policies. Take and accurately document student vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure) upon completion of proper training. Serve as an unlicensed diabetes care assistant (subject to appropriate training based on the Texas Diabetes Care Guide). Contact parents as needed and/or to arrange student pick-ups according to established health protocols. Escalate emergencies and contact EMS as directed by protocols or the supervising School Nurse (RN). Clinic Management & Administration Maintain an efficient and safe clinic environment, strictly adhering to infection control procedures. Securely maintain, sort, and file confidential student health records and review them for completeness. Assist the school health team with routine screening programs. Order, inventory, and maintain health office supplies. Send out routine health notices and communications to parents. Communication & Collaboration Communicate student complaints and clinical findings to supervising school health staff for further direction. Maintain regular communication with the School Health Coordinator or School Nurse (RN) regarding specific student health concerns, communicable diseases, safety hazards, and non-routine matters.
Qualifications & Requirements The ideal candidate will have prior experience or training in a health-related setting. Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Experience: Previous experience in healthcare or clinical support. Certifications: 1-2 years of College, preferred interest in healthcare. Training: Formal first aid training (e.g., Red Cross or similar program), OR willingness to successfully complete a campus/district orientation covering school health services (medication administration, diabetes care, etc.).
Working Conditions
Standard school environment and health clinic setting. Requires the ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations or medical emergencies.
