Job DetailsDescription

The System Director, Operations Performance is a system-level operational leader responsible for advancing system performance through performance advisory, analytics, operational redesign, governance, and execution support. This role partners with system leadership, regional operations, clinical and quality leaders, finance, strategy, and analytics teams to improve operational reliability, reduce variation, strengthen accountability, and accelerate execution of enterprise priorities. The System Director serves as a key driver of a disciplined operating model by establishing standards, translating data into action, supporting cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring performance improvement efforts are aligned to strategic, financial, quality, access, and throughput goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise performance improvement initiatives that enhance operational, financial, and execution outcomes across the health system.
  • Provide performance advisory support to leaders by identifying operational risks, performance gaps, improvement opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Partner with analytics, finance, quality, clinical, and operations teams to define key performance indicators, standardize scorecards, and ensure a consistent source of truth for enterprise reporting.
  • Translate performance data into actionable insights, executive-level recommendations, and structured follow-up plans that drive accountability and measurable results.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardized operating mechanisms, governance structures, escalation pathways, authority matrices, and enterprise non-negotiables. Ensure that the enterprise is functioning as an aligned and integrated system versus siloed approach.
  • Lead or facilitate operational redesign efforts to reduce variation, improve reliability, and optimize workflows across system, regional, and facility operations.
  • Provide project and change management leadership for cross-functional enterprise initiatives, ensuring milestones, owners, risks, dependencies, and outcomes are clearly defined and actively managed.
  • Establish standard methods for project intake, prioritization, and portfolio management.
  • Establish and sustain operational review cadences with leaders to monitor progress, address barriers, escalate decisions, and maintain momentum on priority initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to develop business cases, current-state and future-state assessments, implementation of roadmaps, and executive summaries to support enterprise transformation efforts.
  • Collaborate with leaders to align operational priorities with strategic goals, financial targets, patient experience, quality, and workforce outcomes.
  • Promote adoption of standard methods, tools, templates, and continuous improvement practices across the enterprise.
  • Support integration of new initiatives, acquisitions, special projects or operating model changes by helping define standards, implementation plans, tracking and accountability structures.
  • Support the Monthly Operations Review as an active participant, identifying opportunities, supporting key initiatives, and collaborating with leaders on follow up.
