Job Description Our vision for UCC at BD Urology and Critical Care (UCC) is an established and trusted partner in urinary healthcare, developing complete solutions which optcomprehensive solutions that optimise urine drainage imize the urine drainage process in the Acute Care Hospital setting.
About the role BD RCI is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with expertise in Android and/or iOS development, connected device ecosystems, and modern software engineering practices.
This role will support the development of mobile applications for connected healthcare and digital health solutions, including applications that may interface with cloud platforms such as BD Incada.
The role is responsible for the full mobile application lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, App Store/Play Store publishing, cloud integration, cybersecurity, OTA updates, and long-term maintenance.
Main responsibilities will include: Design, develop, test, release, and maintain Android and/or iOS mobile applications for connected products and digital health solutions.
Lead the end-to-end mobile application lifecycle, from concept and architecture through App Store and Google Play Store publication and post-market support.
Integrate mobile applications with connected devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and cloud-based services.
Implement secure device onboarding, telemetry collection, cloud synchronization, and Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware update capabilities.
Apply modern software development practices using CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality tools, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Embedded Software, Quality, Regulatory, Security, UX, and Product Management teams to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions.
Contribute to AI-enabled features and intelligent user experiences where appropriate.
Develop Android applications using Kotlin and/or iOS applications using Swift / SwiftUI.
Define software architecture, design specifications, and technical documentation.
Manage App Store Connect and Google Play Console release processes.
Implement REST API integrations, cloud connectivity, data synchronization, and device communication interfaces.
Develop and maintain secure BLE communication and OTA firmware update workflows.
Support software verification, validation, defect triage, and post-market maintenance activities.
Perform code reviews and support good software development practices across the team.
Participate in software risk management, cybersecurity assessments, and design reviews.
Ensure compliance with applicable quality, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
About you Bachelor's Degree (Level 8 minimum) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8 years of software development experience.
Proven experience delivering commercial Android and/or iOS applications.
Experience publishing and maintaining applications in the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store.
Experience with connected devices, BLE communication, and cloud-connected mobile solutions.
Experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development tools.
Experience with AI/ML technologies, AI-enabled applications, or AI-assisted development is considered an advantage.
Experience developing software within regulated industries, preferably medical devices.
Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, FDA Mobile App Guidance, and software cybersecurity requirements.
Familiarity with OWASP Mobile Security practices.
Experience with secure API integration, encryption, authentication, and cybersecurity risk mitigation.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Capable of working effectively within global cross-functional development Technical Skills: Android (Kotlin and/or Java) and/or iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) REST APIs, JSON, OAuth2, Auth0 OTA firmware update workflows Cloud integration, data exchange, messaging, and authentication Git, CI/CD, and automated testing frameworks Azure AI, OpenAI, or similar AI services (nice to have) Flutter or other cross-platform frameworks (nice to have) BLE connectivity and device provisioning (nice to have) The salary for this role is €60K
