About

Job Overview Lead Software/Release Engineer for Commerce Cloud Engineering, responsible for building and operating tooling, automation, and release infrastructure that make AI a first‑class part of how engineers code, review, test, and deploy. Responsibilities Build and operate AI/LLM‑enabled tooling in the software delivery lifecycle (code generation, automated review, test authoring, release automation). Design and automate CI/CD systems incorporating AI‑driven quality gates, anomaly detection, and release‑risk analysis. Own release pipelines for a large‑scale enterprise platform, including build, test orchestration, artifact management, deployment, and rollback. Define processes and guardrails for safe, effective AI adoption across engineering teams (prompt and tooling standards, evaluation and rollout). Instrument the developer workflow and measure AI adoption impact with data (cycle time, quality, throughput, developer experience). Write and review production‑grade code in Java and pipeline/scripting languages that engineers rely on daily. Set technical direction and standards; mentor engineers and lead through influence. Partner with platform, QA, and product teams to remove friction and accelerate AI‑native delivery. Qualifications 8+ years in software engineering, with deep experience in release engineering, build systems, CI/CD, or developer tooling at scale. Strong coding ability in Java (or a comparable JVM/strongly‑typed language) and experience with build tooling such as Gradle, Maven, or Bazel. Hands‑on expertise with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar) and pipeline‑as‑code. Practical experience applying AI/LLM tooling to engineering workflows (coding assistants, automated review, agentic tooling, LLM‑backed automation). Track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers without formal authority. Experience defining process and measuring outcomes, turning adoption goals into instrumented, data‑driven results. Bias toward automation, reliability, and measurable impact. Experience building or evaluating LLM‑based developer tools (prompt engineering, evaluation harnesses, agent frameworks, MCP). Cloud infrastructure and containerization experience (AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes). Observability and metrics tooling for build/deploy health and developer productivity (Splunk, Grafana, ELK stack). Building and shipping high‑quality, production‑grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of the development workflow. Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale. Critically evaluate code (human or AI‑generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance. Related technical degree required. Preferred Experience Experience with Salesforce or Commerce Cloud (B2C/ECOM) platforms. Experience with other cloud providers such as GCP. Contributions to open‑source projects. Certifications in AWS or related DevOps technologies. Compensation The typical base salary range for this position is $172,500 - $260,100 annually, representing base salary only. Additional compensation such as company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits may apply. Benefits Salesforce offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes time off programs, medical, dental, vision, mental health support, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, 401(k) and employee stock purchasing program. Accommodations If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or recruiting process, submit a request via the Accommodations Request Form. EEO Statement Salesforce is an equal opportunity employer and maintains a policy of non‑discrimination with all employees and applicants for employment. All employment determinations are made on the basis of merit, competence, and qualifications, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, political viewpoint, or any other protected class.
