The James A. Staley Company is one of the leading manufacturers specializing in aircraft ground support test equipment. The company is located in Carmel, New York, approximately 60 miles north of New York City. All major airports are a little more than a one‑hour drive away. The company was incorporated in June 1976 and formed by a group of talented individuals led by James Staley, former employees of the recently disbanded American Avitron company. We design and produce high‑quality aircraft test equipment and facilities at reasonable prices. Our recently completed construction has brought the plant’s floor area to over 17,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space.
Job Description The Design Engineer will develop test system designs for aerospace components, including test fixtures, adapters, drive systems, tooling, sheet metal, and piping layout. The engineer will work with project engineering staff to develop preliminary sketches, specify materials and tolerances, and develop final drawings for manufacture.
Qualifications
Knowledge of manufacturing processes is a must.
Knowledge of rotating machinery design such as bearings, gearing, and splines is highly desirable.
Must be flexible and have a strong desire to learn in a small‑company environment.
Experience with AutoCAD in a design environment is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
