In this role, as a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability engineering of our new and emerging devices.
The Role As a Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross‑disciplinary staff and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will be responsible for the test and validation of consumer electronics devices. You should have a good understanding of reliability statistics/reliability tests and/or solid understanding of electrical products to influence design for reliability to:
Identify and validate product risks, including but not limited to electrical system, mechanical system, and work with design teams to mitigate them
Define test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability
Provide hands‑on experimental design and execution
Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field
Key job responsibilities Reliability Engineers are crucial in the creation and use of different assessments for evaluating design risks and proposing mitigation measures. This job serves as an unbiased product evaluator for designs, recommending and communicating product risks and driving improvements with data. This job has influence across all teams, including those responsible for program, product, design, software, procurement, manufacturing, support, and legal. This position's primary responsibility is to ensure that products are safe and reliable for our customers.
Basic Qualifications
BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with deep diving into reliability problems and resolving them independently.
Experience in consumer, automotive, or robotics device reliability.
Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability.
Experience with hardware reliability testing such as vibration & shock testing, fatigue testing, electrical stress testing, ESD testing, and thermal stress testing.
Experience in data analytics and statistical analysis, including lifetime analysis, acceleration factor studies, reliability modeling, and reliability allocation.
Experience performing DFMEA and using quality and reliability tools such as FMEA, Fishbone, DOEs, and Six Sigma methods to build reliable products.
Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Reliasoft, Matlab, Minitab, or Python.
Experience using AI in engineering.
Reliability program management experience and strong communication skills across writing and presenting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with failure analysis techniques: electrical debug, cross sectioning, dye and pry, and microscopy.
Specialized knowledge of consumer, industrial, automotive, robotic, IC, or medical devices reliability standards.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
