Job Summary: Deliver exceptional healthcare services by performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and related procedures to produce detailed sectional anatomic images. This role requires technical expertise and compassionate patient care in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct MRI procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the imaging protocol and is properly documented for licensed practitioners. Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal imaging results while minimizing anxiety. Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists. Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the anatomical area of interest. Apply magnet safety principles to protect patients, self, and others from hazards. Assist licensed physicians during procedures and verify all documentation. Address both physical and psychological patient needs throughout the imaging process. Perform venipunctures and administer contrast media as prescribed, maintaining equipment and safety standards. Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and ensure accurate identification on hard copy records. Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed. Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures in a warm, understandable manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, report equipment malfunctions, and contribute to supply management. Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals and participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives. Stay current with sterile techniques, anatomical knowledge, and imaging technology. Record patient histories and relevant information accurately in electronic systems. Manage imaging media release requests following proper authorization. Participate in on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular hours as needed. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology. Proven experience as a radiographer with knowledge sufficient to perform MRI procedures and maintain ongoing education in cross-sectional anatomy. Computer proficiency is essential. Licensure and Certifications:
State certification as a radiologic technologist. Current R.T.(R) ARRT credential in good standing. ARRT certification as R.T.(MR) required at hire or within two years of employment.
This position operates primarily on night shifts within a regional healthcare environment in the Midwest. Hours total approximately 32 per week.
