About
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, preparing sterile compounds, including hazardous medications, in accordance with published local, state, and federal guidelines, including USP 797/800 guidelines, maintaining aseptic work areas and equipment, and maintaining adequate stock of medication and supplies in the cleanroom. This position will also aid the department by working with management on performance improvement projects to streamline and enhance workflows. Incumbent may be required to rotate shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the operating needs of Penn Home Infusion Therapy. Responsibilities: Ability to use technical judgment in performing repetitive job functions that require following instructions and keen attention to detail in selecting prescribed drugs within drug parameters Accurately calculates the quantity of medication and supplies and compound-related products Adheres to guidelines outlined in USP797/USP 800 in relation to sterile product preparation, cleaning procedures, equipment maintenance, and documentation requirements Provides timely communications to Pharmacists for checking, delivery, and general activities Obtains and reviews labels to determine required products and delivery time Keeps active inventory in the work area and appropriately restocks the area with returned medications Credentials: Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB (Required)
Effective 6/28/2026, current PA employees must obtain their State Pharmacy Technician License through the PA State Board of Pharmacy Effective 6/28/2026, PA new hires must have their State Pharmacy Technician License through the PA State Board of Pharmacy either prior or at time of hire Education or Equivalent Experience: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) Education Specialization: Equivalent Experience: •1+ years Pharmacy Technician Compounding experience in sterile product preparation
