Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring all purchasing and supply activities.

The Purchasing and Supply Supervisor is responsible for the efficient management of procurement processes. This role includes supervising a dedicated team, optimizing costs, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The objective is to support the safe production of high-quality parts at the best overall operational cost, while meeting customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team capable of meeting operational needs and objectives
  • Oversee purchasing activities, negotiate supplier contracts, and ensure adherence to deadlines and budgets
  • Plan and coordinate supply activities to ensure material availability while minimizing production disruptions
  • Evaluate supplier performance, manage relationships, and resolve issues to maintain strong partnerships
  • Ensure compliance with contractual pricing for purchased goods and services
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and verify that received products meet aerospace requirements
  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining product and service quality
  • Identify and qualify new sources of supply to address specific needs
  • Contribute to the implementation of tools to measure supplier performance
  • Use ERP systems to manage purchase orders, track inventory, and generate reports to support decision-making; maintain system parameters (supplier pricing, inventory, etc.)
  • Support and execute organizational strategic initiatives
  • Monitor procurement-related expenses (transportation, expedites, etc.)
  • Coach, train, and evaluate team members to ensure optimal performance
  • Manage employees under their responsibility (hiring, follow-up, training, performance evaluation, vacation planning, timesheets, discipline, etc.)
  • Resolve escalated supplier issues while protecting the organization’s interests
  • Plan purchasing activities while maintaining optimal inventory levels by product category
  • Perform any other related duties
Job Requirements Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement and purchasing
  • Experience in a similar role within the aerospace industry
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and at least one ERP system
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as AS9100 or ISO 9001, with the ability to apply them in procurement and supply management
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management capabilities
  • Ability to lead a team, motivate employees, and improve both individual and team performance
Soft Skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage stress and work under pressure
  • Demonstrates leadership and professionalism
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills
