Product Designer I - Product Development
Air Distribution Technologies is seeking a Product Engineer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of commercial HVAC products. This role is responsible for creating and refining product designs using 3D modeling, engineering drawings, and collaboration with manufacturing teams to enhance product performance, quality, and production efficiency. What You'll Do: Develop 3D solid models using SolidWorks based on engineering inputs and specifications Create detailed production drawings with proper dimensioning and documentation standards Generate and maintain part numbers and bills of materials (BOMs) Produce product layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Update and replace outdated or missing product documentation with current designs Execute Engineering Project Requests, ensuring timely release of design packages Collaborate with manufacturing teams to maintain design integrity and identify process improvements Recommend design enhancements to reduce waste and improve manufacturability Create and track project status reports using Microsoft Office tools Interface with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed What We're Looking For: Associate degree in CAD, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field 1–3 years of hands-on experience using SolidWorks Experience creating technical drawings and BOMs Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and engineering standards Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on multiple projects Preferred: Experience in HVAC or manufacturing environments Familiarity with AutoCAD Understanding of production processes and continuous improvement principles Work Environment: The work environment is primarily in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a climate-controlled atmosphere designed for productivity. There may be occasional opportunities to visit a manufacturing plant, where exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels, and varying environmental conditions may occur. The role may require occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Qualifications: Education: Associates or better in Engineering or related field. Experience: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on multiple projects. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and engineering standards.
