Lakeview Village is a continuing care retirement community. We have an opening for a Physical Therapist Assistant to work Full Time.

Lakeview's Physical Therapist Assistant assists in the treatment of residents as directed by the Physical Therapist in order to restore, maintain, or prevent the decline of resident function. Participates as an active member of the rehabilitation team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides treatment to residents under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
  • Records treatments administered in residents' medical records and in the department's daily billing records, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instructs residents, family, and staff in maintenance programs, as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Attends and participates in resident care conferences and rehabilitation departmental meetings.
  • Maintains and continually improves professional competency by attending in-service trainings and utilizing other educational materials.
  • Protects residents and staff by adhering to infection control procedures at all times.
  • Ensures that services are provided at all times in accordance with applicable guidelines, regulations, and standards of practice.
  • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility, to ensure that Therapy Services programs can be properly maintained to meet the needs of facility and residents.
  • Ensures that Resident's Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed.
Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and licensed to practice in the State of Kansas.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred.
  • Demonstrates good communications skills, including but not limited to effective reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills, with a fluent understanding of English.
  • Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
  • Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures is required. Stoops by bending spine at the waist downward and forward; kneeling on the knee to come to a rest; climbs stairs and ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms; and crouches downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Reaches hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pushes forward, downward or outward; and lifts objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position. Walks to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Fingers with whole hand or arm such as picking, pinching or typing; grasp by applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm and feel attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Talks to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly, and/or quickly; and hears sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and has the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • May be asked to assist in transferring residents weighing up to 250 lbs.
