Job Title: Inside Sales Representative Job Description
The Inside Sales Representative oversees the entire sales cycle, serving as the primary point of contact for customers from initial outreach through purchase and ongoing account management. This role focuses on understanding customer needs, recommending appropriate products and solutions, and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and satisfying buying experience. You will combine strong product knowledge, customer service, and consultative selling skills to grow new business and optimize existing customer accounts. Responsibilities
Acquire new customers by proactively reaching out to leads and prospects. Research individual and business customer needs to recommend appropriate products and solutions. Serve existing customers by optimizing their current purchase plans and identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling. Adjust sales tactics based on testing, performance insights, and feedback from the field. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and resolve complaints and queries in a professional and solutions-focused manner. Investigate customer problems, develop and present solutions, prepare reports, and make recommendations to management to prevent recurrence. Make thoughtful, consultative recommendations that align with each customer’s needs and business goals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on customer contacts, account details, and sales activities. Consistently meet or exceed monthly or bi-monthly sales goals and performance targets. Keep management informed by submitting timely activity and results reports, including daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory or account analyses. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and monitor competitor activity. Gather and analyze marketplace information on pricing, products, new product offerings, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques. Recommend changes or enhancements to products, services, and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, building personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Provide clear historical records by maintaining organized records on area and customer sales. Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues, sharing insights, and assisting in closing deals as needed. Essential Skills
2–3 years of inside sales experience. 2–3 years of overall sales experience. Strong customer service skills with a focus on building long-term relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong people skills with the ability to engage, influence, and build rapport with diverse customers. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to research customer needs and translate them into appropriate product recommendations. Ability to manage multiple accounts and tasks while maintaining accurate documentation and records. Motivation to learn, grow, and continuously improve sales techniques and product knowledge. Demonstrated interest in professional development through workshops, publications, or professional networks. Experience in roles that required strong customer interaction and problem-solving. Ability to adapt sales approaches based on data, testing, and feedback. Strong organizational and time management skills to meet regular sales goals and reporting deadlines. Collaborative mindset and willingness to support team members in closing deals and achieving shared goals. Work Environment This is an in-office role, working Monday through Friday, typically from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. You will work in a collaborative sales environment where team members actively support each other and often work together to close deals. The team includes individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, creating a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere. You will use standard office technology and Microsoft Office tools to manage your sales activities, documentation, and reporting. The pay range for this position is $20.19 - $21.63/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
