Job Title: Middleware Integration Systems Administrator # 25-44912 Location: San Antonio, Texas Duration: 12+ Months Contract Schedule: On-site Position Summary The position requires expertise in administering middleware tools, J2EE application servers, and Energy IP Meter Data Management systems. The Integration Systems Administrator will collaborate with internal and external teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance system functionality, and maintain best practices for system performance and security. The position requires expertise in administering middleware tools, J2EE application servers, and Meter Data Management systems suchas EnergyIP. Approximately 70–80% of this role will focus on system administration activities, including platform maintenance, monitoring, patching, and operational support. The remaining 20–30% will involve development work, primarily focused on IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) integrations, including creating, modifying, and supporting integration flows, message transformations, and API integrations. The Integration Systems Administrator will collaborate with internal and external teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance system functionality, and maintain best practices for system performance and security. Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain enterprise integration platforms, including IBM MQ, IBM ACE (App Connect Enterprise), MuleSoft, Active MQ, Kafka, and J2EE application servers such as IBM WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, and Tomcat. Support and maintain the EnergyIP Meter Data Management system, ensuring system reliability and optimal performance. Manage and monitor integration servers and middleware tools to ensure 24x7x365 availability and performance. Implement, configure, and optimize high-availability and disaster recovery configurations for middleware platforms. Perform patching and upgrading of integration systems, middleware tools, and application servers in compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices. Provide second-level support for troubleshooting and resolving system performance issues, including root-cause analysis. Collaborate with integration developers to deploy APIs, services, and workflows on middleware platforms. Develop, maintain, and support IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) integration flows, message transformations, and service integrations as needed to support enterprise integration initiatives. Perform minor to moderate development enhancements and troubleshooting within IBM ACE environments, including updates to message flows, ESQL, JavaCompute nodes, and integration services. Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, and DataWeave. Maintain system security by managing passwords, file permissions, and network access. Regularly review system performance metrics and alerts to proactively identify potential issues. Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Provide cross-training and knowledge-sharing sessions with team members to ensure operational readiness. Act as a liaison between IT infrastructure and the integration team to facilitate smooth deployments and upgrades. Participate in on-call rotations to provide round-the-clock support for critical systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Skills Extensive experience with middleware tools such as IBM MQ, IBM ACE, MuleSoft, Active MQ, Kafka. Expertise in administering J2EE application servers, including IBM WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, and Tomcat, on both UNIX and Windows platforms. Working knowledge of IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) development, including message flows, ESQL, Java Compute nodes, and integration patterns. Proficient in troubleshooting and tuning JVMs for optimal performance. Strong experience with file-based integration techniques (e.g., FTP, SFTP, AWS S3, Azure Blob). Familiarity with API administration and service-oriented architectures (SOAP, REST). Proficiency in scripting and automation using Shell, Perl, Data Weave, and SQL. Hands-on experience installing and managing middleware tools in high-availability configurations. Strong understanding of system security principles, including SSH, file permissions, and security packages. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Information Systems or related field from an accredited university. IBM ACE certification. Utility Industry experience . Minimum Education Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited university Physical Demands Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
