The Hotel Kilmore in Cavan, part of Calusade Hotels group, is currently hiring a Kitchen Porter Supervisor. JOB PURPOSE The Kitchen Porter Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the Kitchen Porter team to ensure the kitchen, back-of-house areas and food preparation spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation at all times. This is a hands-on supervisory role within a busy kitchen environment, requiring strong leadership, organisation and attention to detail. The successful candidate will support kitchen operations by delegating tasks effectively, maintaining HACCP standards, ensuring compliance procedures are followed and assisting the kitchen team during busy service periods. The Kitchen Porter Supervisor will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and efficient working environment while supporting training, teamwork and operational standards across the department. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Team Supervision & Leadership Supervise and lead the Kitchen Porter team on a daily basis. Allocate and delegate duties effectively across the shift. Prepare weekly rota schedules in line with business levels and labour budgets. Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained across all shifts. Support onboarding and training of new Kitchen Porters. Monitor team performance and standards, providing guidance and support where required. Promote teamwork, accountability and a positive working environment. Cleaning & Hygiene Standards Ensure all kitchen areas, pot wash areas, back-of-house corridors, storage areas and waste disposal areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness. Maintain strict HACCP and food safety procedures at all times. Ensure all cleaning schedules and hygiene records are completed accurately and consistently. Conduct regular inspections of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards. Ensure deep cleaning schedules are completed and monitored. Monitor correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Ensure all waste disposal procedures are followed correctly. Operational Support Work hands-on alongside the Kitchen Porter team during busy service periods. Support chefs and kitchen staff with operational requirements where necessary. Ensure clean crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment are available at all times. Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and storage organisation. Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained appropriately. Compliance & Health & Safety Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety and health & safety regulations. Support kitchen compliance audits and inspections. Ensure all staff follow safe manual handling and chemical handling procedures. Report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately. Maintain excellent standards of personal hygiene and presentation across the team. Ensure all compliance documentation is completed and filed correctly. Training & Development Train team members on cleaning procedures, HACCP standards and operational expectations. Support continuous improvement and development within the department. Ensure all Kitchen Porter staff complete required compliance training. Assist management in identifying training needs and performance issues. Strong understanding of HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards. Experience supervising or leading a team desirable. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong organisational and communication skills. Good understanding of health & safety procedures. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy periods as required.
