The Team Lead will work with the other developers to develop improve and maintain the systems that provide management tools with the support of the Platform Services Engineering Manager and other colleagues. This role will encompass technology and line-management of staff. They will be responsible for the teams' technical direction and the quality of their code as well as managing incoming development requests maintenance schedules and technical debt. There is heavy use of AWS within the team with a desire to utilise managed services wherever possible. This includes the use of Lambda API Gateway SQS SNS and RDS managed through the Serverless Framework CloudFormation and Terraform

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers fostering a collaborative and high- performance work environment.

• Understanding requirements and acceptance criteria

• Interpreting software development specifications and design documents

• Writing application code and tests that conform to standards

• Leading software development projects

• Leading the design process on recommended architecture

• Ensuring that the Portal team's work is of high quality and adheres to our company standards.

• Scheduling in maintenance and other internal improvements.

• Identifying risks and developing contingency plans

• Working alongside engineering testing user experience and other roles

• Adhering to company policies and procedures with respect to security quality and health and safety

• Strong knowledge of programming languages and underlying development concepts to enable them to contribute to work across teams

• Strong communication listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.

• High level of self-organisation

• Ability to define technical specifications based on customer requirements

• Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues

• System architecture and design

• Strong understanding of information security ISO 27001 and other processes and policies

• Knowledge of coding standards

• Experience with AWS & Serverless technologies (Lambda SQS etc)

• Strong PHP knowledge utilising the Laravel framework

• Strong JavaScript or Typescript knowledge utilising the Angular or Vue.js frameworks

• HTML and CSS

Preferred:

• Experience in leading a team and helping colleagues to grow

• Management of diverse staff

• Experience developing privacy centric applications

• Experience with optimising SQL queries when working with complex and large data sets

Experience in leading technical projects and steering a team's technical direction
