ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Newport

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Our client is a manufacturer of specialist products for various sectors and seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in the Newport area on a permanent basis.

Key Attributes:

• Degree/HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
• Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork is essential for this position
• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and tolerances
• Able to work independently and as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
• Familiarity with mechanical calculations
• Prior experience working with process machinery or steel/metal materials is desirable
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Proficient in MS Office

Role Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the current engineering team on design projects
• Develop 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and 2D designs with AutoCAD
• Liaise with external manufacturers
• Contribute to final product assembly
• Create required documentation and project reports
• Update 3D models and drawings
• Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
• Verify drawings for sign off
• Work in a dynamic team environment on diverse projects
