Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lift Engineer / AP Supervisor/ Rigging Supervisor project specialist on Lift and Shift and rigging of heavy equipment. To oversee the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of lifts on a busy construction site. This role requires a technically skilled professional who will also act as the Authorised Person (AP) responsible for coordinating and managing all lifting operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lift Installation & Maintenance:
  • Supervise the installation, commissioning, and regular maintenance of passenger and goods lifts on the construction site, ensuring all lifts are in optimal working condition.
  • Authorised Person Duties:
  • Act as the designated AP for lift operations, responsible for overseeing all lifting activities on-site, including planning, issuing permits, and ensuring safe practices.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all lift operations comply with the relevant health and safety legislation, including LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations).
  • Risk Assessments & Method Statements:
  • Prepare, review, and approve lift-specific risk assessments, method statements, and lifting plans. Conduct site inspections and safety audits to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor junior lift engineers, technicians, and contractors. Provide technical guidance and ensure that all staff are properly trained in lifting procedures and safety measures.
  • Technical Support:
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues with lift systems, liaise with manufacturers for complex issues, and ensure minimal downtime on-site.
  • Coordination & Communication:
  • Liaise with the site management team, project managers, contractors, and external suppliers to ensure smooth coordination of lift-related activities.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all lift operations, including maintenance schedules, breakdown reports, and safety inspections. Provide regular progress updates to the site management team.
  • Permit to Work:
  • Issue and manage permits to work for lift operations, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

NVQ Level 6 LOLER (Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) Specialist. CPSCA61 AP Test. Experience and qualifications in rigging heavy equipment, odd size loads etc.

  • Proven experience as a Lift Engineer, preferably within a construction environment.
  • Authorised Person (AP) certification or experience in lifting operations.
  • Strong understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret lift drawings and technical manuals.
  • Experience in supervising a team and working with contractors and suppliers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
