**Nuclear Waste Assessor Role Overview**
We are recruiting for Nuclear Waste Assessors to join our Nuclear Waste Assessment Team at the Environment Agency.
The team provides specialist technical advice to support regulation of existing nuclear sites and influences environmental performance of future facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support assessment of proposals for managing and disposing of radioactive waste for both proposed and existing facilities.
- Communicate with the nuclear industry, other regulators, public, and occasionally media.
- Provide specialist technical input across various areas including disposal facilities, site waste management plans, policy and guidance development, and radioactive waste management.
Requirements:
- Scientific degree or equivalent vocational experience.
- Lived in the UK for last 3 years for enhanced security checks.
- Experience in treatment, conditioning, and/or disposal of solid radioactive waste.
- Proven ability to assess and analyze technical proposals.
- Able to make decisions based on incomplete information.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Customer-facing experience and good customer practice understanding.
