Job Description

Direct Medics are working in partnership to find an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to fulfill this permanent Forensic Psychiatry role based in Taunton, Devon, providing comprehensive support to a range of medium and low secure mental health inpatient services, including male, female, and LD+A wards. This will involve a caseload of approximately 15-20 inpatients, offering opportunities for career development through access to excellent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.

The successful candidate will work alongside a successful and supportive group of enthusiastic and high-calibre doctors, as well as have access to study leave funding to support their continuing education and training in line with their goals.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Be on the Specialty Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Psychiatry with forensic experience
  • Be able to lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Be in good CPD standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and have had an appraisal within the last year
  • Hold AC and Section 12(2) approval
