Position Overview:
The Engineering Technician II, will perform surveying duties, assist in the creation of designs and working drawings for municipal engineering projects, maintain municipal infrastructure information, and assist the planning and engineering staff of the department. The incumbent shall generally work independently to provide services.

- Determining specific tasks, sequence, timelines and resources to be used in order to attain those goals.
- Effectively managing or overseeing the completion of that task according to the plan.
- Demonstrated ability to operate total station, GPS, transit, level and other survey instruments.
- Working knowledge of the standard principles, practices and techniques of the applicable field of Engineering.
- Ability to work with computer assisted drafting (CAD) civil software and various engineering computer modelling applications.
- Ability to create and interpret Engineering plans to ensure compliance with Engineering Drawings, Standards and Master Specifications.
- Working knowledge of current operating systems, spreadsheet, word processing and database applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, vendors and the public.
- Diploma in Engineering Technology from a recognized Technical Institute or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant scope of practice.
- Eligibility for membership as a Professional Technologist or Professional Engineer or Certified Technician with direct related experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Security Background Check Required.
- Must be willing to take applicable safety and job-related programs and courses.
