Job Description We have multiple locations in the Metro Detroit area. Our main office is located in Troy, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being around others and can multi‑task.
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of medical and administrative related tasks. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and is customer service driven. Qualified candidates must be self‑motivated, well organized, a team player with a positive attitude, and have experience with EMR systems.
Essential Position Function and Duties
Perform all duties necessary to assist the medical staff in serving patients
Schedule patient appointments following established guidelines and protocols set by administrative standards
Prepare exam rooms
Assess and record patient’s complete vitals, signs and past medical history in EMR system
Perform ECGs
Perform blood draws
Assign patient to exam rooms and provide status checks periodically (when necessary)
Retrieve/review patient charts ensuring all test results, labs, or other documentation is included in the chart prior to the patient seeing the provider for examination
Ensure medical equipment, instruments, and exam rooms are cleaned/sanitized prior to each use
Assist with venous insufficiency procedures as needed
Ensure all bio‑hazard equipment, instruments, materials, PPE, etc. are properly disposed of
Complete necessary forms for the providers to review and complete follow‑up, such as prescription call‑in or submission for the patient
Assist Front Desk coverage as needed and directed by medical staff and management
Answer phone calls and assist with phone triage
Perform other functions as determined by the medical staff
Customer Relations
Treat guests, patients, physicians, and other employees with care, courtesy, and respect
Respond quickly and appropriately to customer requests
Look for and suggest ways to better meet customer needs
Answer clinic communications system promptly and with courtesy and respect
Teamwork
Work cooperatively within own department and other areas
Willingly accept additional responsibility – demonstrate cooperation at all times
Respond quickly to request for assistance from provider, co‑worker and/or management staff
Require to work closely with patients and associates
Interact with other departments on problem‑solving efforts
Accept feedback from patients, visitors, clinic employees, physicians and general public
Education & Experience
High School Diploma
Medical Assistant Diploma (Preferred) or 2 years of experience
BLS Certification
Proficient with EMR systems
Schedule
8‑hour shift
Day shift
Monday‑Friday; some Saturdays
Locations – On Site Only
Detroit, Taylor, Troy, & Rochester (location will vary depending on coverage and day)
