Job Overview

  • To provide first-line maintenance and engineering services for the MSD maintenance contract portfolio.
  • Complete PPM tasks and activities in accordance with contracted service level agreements.
  • Complete reactive works in accordance with contracted service level agreements.
  • Complete quoted works in accordance with contracted service level agreements.
  • Provide on-site attendance where sub-contractors are required to complete specialist works.
  • Provide supervision when necessary where sub-contractors are required to complete specialist works.
  • Identify requirements for additional works where the completion of planned and reactive works cannot be completed first time.
  • Complete electronic and hard copy documentation to ensure that works completed can be evidenced through continuous audit and review.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Complete surveys, audits, reviews of building assets when requested to assist with report compilation.
  • Ensure company values are observed throughout, maintaining high standards of conduct, quality, sustainability, value for money, and efficiency.
  • Be available for overtime and call-outs as business demands require.

Main Duties

  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and repair of building services assets in accordance with contract specification, manufacturers' guidelines, industry standards, approved codes of practice, and site-specific documentation.
  • Respond to breakdowns and reactive calls in accordance with contracted service level agreements.
  • Diagnose faults with building services assets and complete repairs at first response or advise on course of action if not possible.
  • Monitor plant, equipment, systems while carrying out works to ensure service continuity is maintained.
  • Research via manufacturers' service manuals or wholesale supplier databases and provide specific information to the Service Desk relating to spare parts procurement.
  • Provide information to ensure alternative replacement parts meet specification, performance, suitability, and sustainability requirements.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments to review and mitigate risks prior to task completion.
  • Escalate to line manager if there is risk or concern that safe systems of work cannot be implemented.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a qualification in one of the following:
  • C&G Level 3 or equivalent in relevant subject (Mechanical, Electrical, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration).
  • ONC/HNC building services engineering, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • NVQ Level 3.
  • Recognised EITB apprenticeship (Maintenance and Operations Engineering MOET), or similar.
  • Experience providing engineering and maintenance services within the building services industry (2 years+).
  • Fully conversant with electrical and mechanical maintenance activities processes and procedures.
  • Competent in basic IT and computer skills.
  • Holder of a full driving license (where applicable).
  • Able to work well under pressure and during unsociable hours.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Efficiency and organisation.
  • Teamworking skills.
