We are seeking an experienced SatCom Space Segment Engineer to join us at ESA's ECSAT premises in Harwell, United Kingdom.
About the RoleIn this challenging position, you will have the opportunity to support cutting-edge projects in the Telecommunication Satellite Domain.
Main Responsibilities:- Support the development of telecommunication satellite technology and products.
- Initiate activities related to technology and product development for satcom applications.
- Establish and control relevant ESA requirements, specifications, and documentation.
- Evaluate, negotiate, monitor, and control development contracts and activities.
- Prepare inputs to status reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of technology and product development work plans.
- Share expertise with other members of the directorate on their projects.
- Monitor market and technology trends and developments in satellite communication.
- Cooperate with specialists in other ESA departments.
- Identify issues during procurement, running, or closing activities and flag them for attention.
- Prepare high-quality papers for Adjudication Committee meetings or Delegate bodies.
- Provide inputs for the Department Business Intelligence management system.
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- Masters degree or equivalent in Physics or Engineering, or a relevant field.
- At least 4 years proven experience in aerospace or telecommunications satellite design and manufacturing.
- Experience in defining and implementing low-level solutions.
- Proficiency in Project Management or management of sub-contractors.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Satcom flight hardware.
- Optical communications technology.
- Digitilisation.
- Satcom antennas.
- FPGA's.
- 5G.
- High integrity.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution-oriented mindset with customer-focused communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
