If so, Dstl is recruiting for a software reverse engineer.

This role will see you join our team that:
provides technical expertise in the application of software reverse engineering.
focuses on the analysis of compiled binaries using various static and dynamic techniques to identify undisclosed or unknown software vulnerabilities.

In your position you will:
* push the boundaries in innovating new automated analysis tools and techniques.

Person specification

You will bring:
persistence to solving problems with the ability to consider lateral approaches to its solution.
Experience of working on non-routing problems in an engineering or technology environment and making meaningful technical assessments.
* Knowledge of how to perform Firmware Extraction
* Experience in using Ghidra or IDA. Experienced Practitioner of Static & Dynamic Analysis techniques.

Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. Annual leave: 25 days pro rata (rising to 30 after 5 years) plus 8 public holidays with the ability to buy/sell 5 additional days per annum.
Family: Maternity, adoption or shared parental leave of up to 26 weeks with full pay, an additional 13 weeks statutory pay and a further 13 weeks unpaid
Learning and Development: Dstl encourages and supports charterships, accreditations and provides employees access to fully funded apprenticeships up to level 7 (Masters Degree). Dstl will pay for 2 memberships with relevant bodies/institutions. Employees also have access to Civil Service Learning.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

Sifting will take place week commencing the 10th March 2025 with interviews to be arranged from the 24th March 2025.

At the application stage we will be assessing the Personal Statement and CV against the essential criteria stated within the Candidate Information Pack.

The interview will consist of a combined Behavioural and Technical interview. At the interview stage we will be assessing the technical background to ensure appropriate depth against level criteria.

You will be asked to do a 10 minute presentation on 'A technical project that I’m proud of’.
