We are looking for a Human Resources Manager to join the Sutherland Group team in Kelowna. We are seeking an experienced and people‑focused HR Manager to join our team. Key Responsibilities
Ensuring all actions incorporate "Sutherland Group Enterprise's Core Values" of Curious and Adaptable, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, Better Together and Make it Happen.
Actively contribute to a "Safety First" culture by championing and enforcing all safety related initiatives.
Maintain the organization's work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
Partner with the Recruitment Specialist & HRBP to recruit, qualify, hire, and train new employees.
Manage all international recruitment efforts, such as TFWP and RNIP.
Monitor employee performance, guide disciplinary or corrective actions, ensuring proper handling.
Oversee and support the Employee Rewards & Recognition Programs.
Counsel/support managers to conduct performance reviews with employees as required.
Investigate, support and find resolve to both grievances and/or personal issues brought forward by employees.
Actively participate in the review and ongoing development of company policies, programs and practices.
Participate in/lead group and or individual employee meetings / committees as required.
Support HRIS data management
Assist with implementation of electronic HR system upgrade
Support and work closely with the Accounting/Payroll Division to monitor employee benefits and compensation.
Effectively address departmental inquiries by government agencies, customers, and the general public.
Support/manage Employment Equity reporting requirements.
Monitor changing regulations that affect the company; help structure/implement processes to address the changes.
Conduct compensation analysis as directed by upper management.
Represent the company to industry, associations, driving schools and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
As a member of the Sutherland Group team, we expect you bring the following to the table:
Previous experience leading a general Human Resources function.
Understanding of or experience in the Transportation or Forestry industries is an asset
Degree/Certification in Human Resources Management or equivalent.
CPHR or similar designation is preferred
Considerable tact and discretion required when dealing with employees, managers and external enforcement authorities.
Proven experience in technical writing, process and procedure development.
Excellent organizational, planning and management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with critical thinking and analytical skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
