We are a DTC Shopify brand hiring an experienced Shopify developer for a theme performance project. No preset budget at this time. We are collecting bids and will choose the best value based on experience, price, and reviews. If this project goes well, we plan to re-hire for ongoing work (theme updates, fixes, customizations). The project's 3 objectives are:
• Fix critical storefront bugs (loading, add to cart, cart drawer)
• Improve PageSpeed Insights performance (mobile + desktop)
• Update our theme to the latest version without breaking functionality or losing performance gains
STACK
• Theme: Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme (currently Broadcast
• Cart drawer: Monster Cart Upsell + Free Gifts (MonsterCart).
• Reviews: Stamped Reviews.
• Loyalty widget:
• Tracking: Google Tag Manager (installed in ).
• Email popup: Omnisend.
• Heatmaps/replay: Lucky Orange.
• We have a pre-change backup theme and require work to be done in a staging theme first.
BUGS TO SOLVE
• Page looks loaded but browser keeps "loading" until switching tabs
• Collection page's quick add sometimes not clickable, non-variant products add 2 units per click
• Product page ATC or sticky ATC gets stuck on "Processing"
• MonsterCart drawer quantity and remove sometimes dead-click until refresh
CURRENT PSI BASELINE (home page)
• Mobile: score ~42 | TBT ~750ms | LCP ~18.1s
• Desktop: score ~59 | TBT ~520ms | LCP ~2.3s | CLS ~0.125
• We will share PSI links, recordings, and URLs after selection.
MILESTONES (Paid Separately)
Please propose a fixed price for each milestone. Payment is released when acceptance criteria are met.
Milestone 1: Fix Bugs (Reliability)
• Done when:
• No tab switching needed to finish loading
• Collection page's quick add adds exactly 1 item per click for non-variant products
• Product ATC and sticky ATC work reliably, no stuck "Processing"
• MonsterCart qty and remove work reliably without refresh
• No new critical console errors on key pages
• Deliver: root-cause summary, change log, proof video/screenshots
Milestone 2: Improve Speed (Mobile + Desktop PSI/Lighthouse)
• Targets: +20 mobile PSI and +15 desktop PSI on agreed key pages, reduce LCP and reduce TBT
• Done when: before/after PSI shows improvement on the same pages and Milestone 1 still passes
• Deliver: before/after PSI links/screenshots + summary of optimizations
Milestone 3: Theme Update to Latest Version + Regression QA
• Done when:
• Theme updated to latest version, design preserved
• Milestone 1 still passes
• No major performance backslide, re-run PSI on key pages
• No new critical console errors or cart/checkout regressions
• Deliver: change log, rollback plan, maintenance notes
TO APPLY (Answer These 3 Things)
• Share 2–3 examples where you improved Shopify PSI/Lighthouse and fixed cart/add-to-cart reliability (what you changed + results).
• In 5–7 bullets, outline how you would diagnose (a) stuck loading states and (b) add to cart buttons don't work.
• Provide your fixed price for Milestones 1–3 and what you need from us to start.
Contract duration of less than 1 month. with 30 hours per week.
