Position Summary:

Join a highly-collaborative, high-impact Advanced Analytics team driving Canada's 2030 data ambitions. As a Sr. Analyst, Advanced Analytics, you will turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that both accelerate profitable growth and streamline underwriting operations across our $1B Canadian portfolio. You'll operate at the intersection of strategy and data analytics - owning end-to-end initiatives from framing the problem with business leaders to delivering solutions and driving adoption on the front line.

In this role, you'll help set the strategy for what to work on — partnering with underwriting and operations leaders to identify, prioritize, and sequence the highest‑impact opportunities—then own delivery end to end. Example efficiency plays include leading automation pilots that materially reduce underwriting cycle time and increase throughput and shaping a data‑backed "north‑star" operating model.

On underwriting effectiveness, examples include delivering claims-underwriting connectivity insights that elevate portfolio quality and inform appetite; building practical tools that surface cross‑sell opportunities and enable smart reuse of broker‑supplied data. Your work will be highly visible —regularly presenting to senior leadership and influencing decisions measured by improvements in underwriting productivity, tool/process adoption, hit/bind rates, cross‑sell revenue, premium growth, and loss ratio.

If you're an analytically strong, self‑driven problem solver who loves storytelling, stakeholder leadership, and making change real — not just reporting — this is an opportunity to shape how underwriting gets done in Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead underwriting efficiency initiatives that introduce automation to reduce cycle time and increase throughput, partnering with process and automation teams on time-motion studies and measurable operational improvements.
  • Contribute to defining a "north-star" operating model for underwriting and shaping future-state workflows, metrics, and governance.
  • Deliver claims–underwriting connectivity insights to deepen understanding of profitable business, inform appetite and selection, and drive improvements in portfolio quality and loss ratio.
  • Build and launch tools that surface cross-sell opportunities for underwriters and enable smart re-use of broker-supplied data, including practical data products that embed insights into daily workflows.
  • Synthesize complex analysis into compelling narratives and executive-ready presentations; lead recurring readouts that convert insights into clear recommendations, decisions, and accountable actions.
  • Drive adoption and change management for new tools and processes — partnering with underwriting, claims, and distribution leaders to embed solutions, track outcomes, and iterate for impact.
  • Collaborate across the North America Data Office to navigate the data ecosystem, and ensure the solutions you build are robust, observable, and designed for reuse.
  • Independently manage projects end-to-end: scoping problems, prioritizing work, aligning stakeholders, tracking milestones, and delivering on time with clear value realization measures.
  • Develop analytic tools that help others do their jobs more effectively and guide decision-making — going beyond dashboards to implement tangible changes that drive efficiency and growth.
  • Confidently lead discussions with senior leadership at the department or functional level, using storytelling and well-structured analysis to earn buy-in and move the business.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative fields preferred.
  • Four to five years of experience or equivalent capability required.
  • Advanced knowledge of data sources, tools, statistical principles and methodologies, and techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Power BI, and statistical software packages (SAS, Emblem). Python experience is a plus.
  • Must exhibit robust planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Possess a depth of understanding of business nuances to improve business outcomes.
