1. Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of immigration law violations by inspecting documents and possessions.
2. Preventing unauthorized entry at or near borders using surveillance techniques, including infrared scopes during nighttime operations, to secure the country's perimeter.
3. Gathering evidence related to attempts made through illegal border crossings such as footprints, marks on terrain etc.
