We are looking for a Project Engineer or Engineer in Training to join and grow our dynamic Infrastructure team in Calgary and Edmonton. You will work closely with our local teams of professionals, in a variety of functions, delivering projects including municipal infrastructure, roadway and drainage designs for both our public and private sector clients.
You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model which includes flexible work hours, working from home and in any of our offices in Calgary or Edmonton.
Main Responsibilities:
Contribute to city-building projects by providing engineering support for Area Structure Plans and Outline Plans.
Prepare construction drawings and development site servicing plans.
Conduct feasibility studies to assist clients with development opportunities and land acquisition.
Support the design of site grading and servicing, including water supply, sanitary systems, stormwater management, shallow utilities, and erosion control.
Perform technical tasks such as drafting utility alignments and profiles, preparing cut-and-fill calculations, evaluating wastewater and stormwater flows, and contributing to noise impact assessments.
Support with preparation of construction cost estimates.
Prepare technical specifications, engineering memoranda, and permit/approval applications, ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant with municipal and provincial standards.
Liaise directly with clients, municipalities, government agencies, and regulatory authorities to address project-specific requirements, coordinate approvals, and advocate for project objectives.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents and procurement packages and support the tendering process by responding to contractor inquiries, preparing addenda, and reviewing bids.
Perform contract administration tasks and support post-construction activities
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and approving agencies.
Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure deliverables meet high standards.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience in land development or municipal projects.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or eligibility for licensure with APEGA in good standing.
Solid understanding of civil engineering principles, including site grading, water supply, sanitary and storm sewer servicing.
Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and BlueBeam Revu.
Familiarity with City of Calgary or City of Edmonton design standards and requirements.
Proven ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment, with a collaborative and solution-focused mindset.
Proactive in seeking information and developing solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
Motivated to learn and grow through mentorship and hands-on experience.
